OnBrand Bands

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008

Congrats to the RollingStones …

The original artwork
(done by a college student at the time)
sold today for over $92,000 !!!

according to Courtney Love bashing, on Trent Reznor

NIN was opposite who first created a logo then created a band,

The Rolling Stones logo was one of the FIRST bands to ever cultivate a Brand for their Band… so to me even though I may like NIN music alot more than rolling stones music, I have to give The Rolling Stones “props”  for best cultural icon  and most effective Band logo and certainly one of the first in Branding…

Help Tuesday,a Child w/ Cancer Enter to WIN an Original Painting!

A friend of ours has Twin Boys & belongs to a group, a twins group, they are all very close and talk all the time.
One of the families in the group has a set of Twin Girls who are less than 18 months old and one of the little girls has just been diagnosed with Stage 4 Neuroblastoma, this is

Neuroblastoma is a Cancer that strikes 650 children a year and occurs before they are 2 years of age.  It is a Neuroendocrine Tumor and commonly begin in the adrenal glands but may also develop in the neck, chest, abdomen or pelvis of a child. The cause of Neuroblastoma is Unknown but is believed to be from accidental cell growth of the adrenal glands that occurs during development.

Debi from who says 8 is enough has taken the Philanthropic role of starting Auctions to raise Money for this little girls treatments, Family expenses etc.  This WEEKEND Debi will be putting up for Auction an Original Painting done by none other than my Husband!!
Aaron & I donated a Voucher for the Winner to have an 18×24 ready to hang canvas One Face Portrait done of anyone they choose Hand painted by JAaronAnderson.com.
This is an estimated $400.00 Value plus we will cover the cost of Shipping & Handling to the Winner.  I Blog all the time about our Paying it Forward initiatives and feel that this is by far the closet to home an endeavor has hit for us . I know first hand what Cancer does to a Family and Know what struggles they Face emotionally, financially and physically and if the only way we can help is to raise money for them and help make this bad situation a bit easier for them then by all means I am going to do it!!

Here is some info to educate you on Neuroblastoma, who it targets and How

DIAGNOSIS or SIGNS of Neuroblastoma:
*   The First symptoms are often vague & may include Fatigue, Loss of Appetite & Fever
*   Later symptoms depend on the tumor location:

STAGES OF Neuroblastoma:

  • Stage 1: Localized tumor confined to the area of origin.
  • Stage 2A: Unilateral tumor with incomplete gross resection; identifiable ipsilateral and contralateral lymph node negative for tumor.
  • Stage 2B: Unilateral tumor with complete or incomplete gross resection; with ipsilateral lymph node positive for tumor; identifiable contralateral lymph node negative for tumor.
  • Stage 3: Tumor infiltrating across midline with or without regional lymph node involvement; or unilateral tumor with contralateral lymph node involvement; or midline tumor with bilateral lymph node involvement.
  • Stage 4: Dissemination of tumor to distant lymph nodes, bone marrow, bone, liver, or other organs except as defined by Stage 4S. ( this is Tuesday’s Stage)
  • Stage 4S: Age <1 year old with localized primary tumor as defined in Stage 1 or 2, with dissemination limited to liver, skin, or bone marrow (less than 10 percent of nucleated bone marrow cells are tumors).

Survivors of intermediate and high-risk treatment often experience hearing loss. Growth reduction, thyroid function disorders, learning difficulties, and greater risk of secondary cancers affect survivors of high-risk disease. An estimated two of three survivors of childhood cancer will ultimately develop at least one chronic and sometimes life-threatening health problem within 20 to 30 years after the cancer diagnosis.

Dedication to an Admired Friend

Thursday, May 1st, 2008

Dr Ross Beitzel has been a friend of Heather’s for many years….

When we moved back to the East Coast she introduced me to him and he has become a very good friend, mentor, and confidant.
He has done many great things for the Art Community both at Gloucester County College and the State as a whole.  In recognition of his contributions, hard work and dedications over the years they are renaming the Art Gallery tomorrow evening to be the Dr Ross Beitzel Art Gallery.

Heather & I couldnt be more happy for him!!

To show our congratulations and honor of our good friend I did a portrait of Ross to present to him tomorrow evening…..

Man of yalwe

Thursday, November 8th, 2007

I have loved my interactions with Mr. Derek Hambly.

His paintings I find to be invigorating and inspiring.

You can check out more about him at his site [here].

Here is my favorite painting I began my discussion with him.

In studying all his work I found it most interesting his use of yellow. When I asked him about his use of yellow in the painting above; he lost his breath and went on to confide in me how when he was a student his nickname was “yellow”…

As many say we are what we eat, I like to also think we are what we paint. . .
