Wii got a New Toy!!

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

On 7/24/2008 I went to my parents house to visit, water flowers, pick up mail the usual.

Aaron had been on a Business trip for the past 3 days and had been checking in with my parents and me, the normal Anderson Family & Work week.

Well, My mom collects transport sheets from when they take my dad to dialysis so we have them to put on the floor when our Parrot is out of the cage.  She had them stacked very high and taped, which I thought was odd….I picked them up and they were very heavy…..

With that my mom said there is a gift in there for you and your husband but you cannot open it until he gets home tonight…..’and dont peek’!!
Needless to say for a few hours I was pacing past this bundle and the second Aaron got in the door from his trip I said “mommy & Bert got us a gift and I couldnt open it til you got home, lets open it”

Aaron looked at me and smiled and said “hun, can I go to the restroom first I have been on the road for a few hours” I smirked and pouted and said “if you really have to”…..

When he was done stalling me we opened the gift to find a Beautiful card and a Wii Gaming System!!  Thats right my parents got us a Wii!!!

The card said it was a ‘thank you for all we do for them’  It was the biggest surprise!!

We had been wanting one ever since the craze to buy our Nephew one for Christmas and now Wii have one too!!!

We called my parents and said our amazing Thank you’s and appreciation for such a special gift,

Then my mom tells us that she picked up the Wii Fit too in case we wanted it……..Ah, Yeah!

We have logged in alot of hours on it so far and it hasnt even been a week yet…..

Thanks again Mommy & Bertie!!  We love you!

Dear Baby Jesus

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

Dear 8 pound 6 ounce Baby Jesus, or as our brothers to the south call you Jésus…

I wish to thank you so much for this bountiful harvest of Domino’s, KFC, and the always delicious Taco Bell. I just want to take time to say thank you for my family, My two beautiful, beautiful, handsome, cats, Stryper, and Frost, or Bean, as we call him.

And of course my red hot smokin’ wife, Heather, who is a stone cold fox (Nayla: MMMMM!),
who if you would rate her ass on 100 it would easily be a 194.

I also want to thank you for my best pet bird and teammate, Nayla, Who’s got my back no matter what (Nayla: Shake and Bake)

Dear Lord Baby Jesus, we also like to thank you for my wife’s Mother Vicky, we hope that you can use your baby Jesus powers to heal her hand.

Dear Tiny, Infant, Jesus…

Look, I like the Christmas Jesus best, and I’m sayin’ grace. When you say grace, you can say it to Grownup Jesus or Teenage Jesus or Bearded Jesus or whoever you want.

Dear Tiny Jesus, in your golden fleece diapers with your tiny, little fat balled up fists

Look, I like the baby version the best, you hear me? I “win the races” and I get the money!

Dear Eight Pound, Six Ounce, Newborn Baby Jesus, don’t even know a word yet, just a little infant, so cuddly, but still omnipotent.

We’d just like to thank you for all the races I’ve won and the $21.2 million, LOVE THAT MONEY! That I have accrued over this past season.

Also due to a binding endorsement contract that stipulates I mention PowerAde at each grace, I just wanna say that PowerAde is delicious and it cools you off on a hot summer day and we look forward to PowerAde’s release of mystic mountain blueberry.

Thank you, for all your power and your grace, Dear Baby God, Amen

Dear Lord Baby Jesus, lying there in your…your little ghost manger, lookin’ at your Baby Einstein developmental…videos, learnin’ ’bout shapes and colors…

Hang on, Baby Jesus, this is gon’ get bumpy!

Just Hollywood…

Monday, June 9th, 2008

I found what TMZ is calling their ALL STARS Game which is list of Actors in Hollywood Fantasy Sports Game.

Their A List Celebrities include people like:
Jessica Simpson, Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Aniston, Brittney Spears and Heidi Montag??

Then the D list which no celebrity EVER wants to be caught dead on are people like:
Nicole Kidman, Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, Charliz Theron, Jaquin Phoeniz and Cheryl Burke…..Ok so I understand why Cheryl Burke is on the “D-List”…..

Then there is self proclaimed D-Lister Kathy Griffin who was listed on the “C-list” and Heather Ledger and Anne Nicole Smith are on the B-List…..But, If I remember correctly, I am pretty sure they are on the ultimate D-List…..

Just a weird little blog from my warped world of entertainment Gossip….

LCD vs Plasma

Thursday, August 2nd, 2007

The final decision as to what type of flat panel television to purchase (LCD or Plasma) is really up to you; both types of flat panel televisions have advantages and disadvantages.

To me If I can I’d get a plasma for the pure movie cinema buff I am but as it stands my wife and I own a 64″ in. CRT but I think Ill buy a LCD next and here’s why…

Plasma Television Advantages

For Plasma televisions, the advantages over LCD, are: Better contrast ratio, better ability to render deep blacks, more color depth, better motion tracking (response time), and more availability in very large screen sizes.

Plasma Television Disadvantages

However, the disadvantages of Plasma vs LCD include: more susceptible to burn-in (although this is not as much of a factor now, due to technology improvements in the past couple of years), more heat generation, does not perform as well at higher altitudes, and shorter display life span (although this too is changing due to technology improvements), heavier weight, and more delicate to ship.

LCD Television Advantages

LCD television advantages include no burn-in susceptibility, cooler running, less screen glare, more functional at high altitudes, longer display life (although improvements are being made in Plasma screen life), looks better in brightly lit rooms.

Also, LCD televisions have made great strides in upping-the-ante in native pixel resolution, with a growing number of sets offering a full 1080p (1920×1080) display capability at affordable price levels in screen sizes ranging from 37-inches and up. On the other hand, the number of Plasma Televisions offering 1080p native pixel resolution are still few and far between, as well as being more expensive in comparison to their LCD counterparts.

One factor to consider in favor of LCD over Plasma (at least for the near future) is that if you are planning to purchase a Blu-ray Disc, HD-DVD, or Upscaling DVD Player, LCD may be a more cost-effective option as you can get a 1080p LCD set from 37-to-42-inches at a lower price than and 42-inch size Plasma set that has 1080p resolution.

One other factor to consider is that LCD televisions are typically lighter (when comparing same screen sizes) than their Plasma counterparts, making wall installation easier.

LCD Television Disadvantages

LCD televisions do have drawbacks in several areas vs Plasma televisions: Lower contrast ratio, not as good rendering deep blacks, not as good at tracking motion (although this is improving), and not as common in large screen sizes above 42-inches (although the number is growing).

Also, although LCD televisions do not suffer from burn-in susceptibility, it is possible that individual pixels on an LCD televisions can burn out, causing small, visible, black or white dots to appear on the screen. Individual pixels cannot be repaired, the whole screen would need to be replaced at that point, if the individual pixel burnout becomes annoying to you. Finally, LCD televisions are more expensive than an equivalent-sized Plasma television, although the price gap is closing.

The Mercury Issue

Also, one argument that Plasma Television manufacturers are making about LCD Televisions is that they use mercury as part of the chemical makeup of the florescent lighting used to illuminate the screen surface.

However, this is a red herring with regards to choosing a Plasma Television over an LCD Television. In LCD sets, the amount of Mercury used is not only small, it never comes in contact with the user. Also, keep in mind that most common high-efficiency florescent lamps also use Mercury.

Mercury is one of the Earth’s elements; its existence in nature is a part of natural processes and has both beneficial and non-beneficial uses, just as most other elements and chemical compounds. You are probably in more danger eating Fish, that may contain traces of Mercury, a couple of times a week than watching, touching, or using an LCD TV. Also, with the development of LED lighting sources, which is Mercury-free, this issue will resolve itself in the years ahead.

LCD Television and HDTV Reception

On the HDTV part of the equation, most LCD televisions already have built-in standard TV tuners (HDTV tuners must usually be added externally - but more are showing up as a standard feature), while many Plasmas are just monitors-only and may require both external standard and HDTV tuners to receive television signals (although more are beginning to include either NTSC and/or both HDTV tuners). This is definitely a point to check when making your buying decision as it will affect your budget.

Closing Thoughts

My recommendation is to go to a dealer and really take a look carefully at several Plasma and LCD televisions and compare the performance based on the above factors and narrow down your choices to one or two of both types and make your decision based on what type will give you the most pleasing image, connection flexibility, and fits your overall budget expectations.

However, both Flat Panel Plasma and LCD televisions are viable options for home theater, and, with prices continuing to come down and features and quality continuing to go up, both types are quickly becoming a good value for consumers.
