Christmas is coming!!!

Sunday, December 9th, 2007

With all that has gone on for my family the last few years Christmas is becoming not such a big deal to us anymore. It seems like this time of the year is the WORST time of the year!!!

With the exception of spending time with our Nephew. He truly is the only light we have left and the twinkle that keeps Christmas ALIVE!

You see last year when Mom-Mom and I took him to see Santa we had to tell him that I wanted to see Santa and then when we got there he sat on his lap and then we left we thought it was just that easy. When we got to the car he said “Shoppy you forgot to sit on Santa’s lap!” I said “Oh man, your right let me call him right now!” I called on my cell phone and let a very detailed message for Santa ;0)

SO THIS YEAR, we think its going to be just that simple again. We are at the mall on Black Friday and we were doing some shopping (from midnight thanksgiving but thats a whole other story..33 hours of no sleep) and had lunch at the food court, we finished lunch and I noticed that the line wasnt very long for Santa so I said “oooh I wanna see Santa” instructed my Mom to take the lil’ man down the elevator and I took a beeline down the stairs for the line. While were in line he is enjoying the lights and characters of the display….UNTIL

We get closer then he starts saying “Shoppy your the only one sitting with Santa, right??” I said “why dont you wanna see Santa??” He says “Nah, he just a Fat guy in a suit!” With that my mom and I laughed and said “No he’s the guy that takes all the wishes of the boys and girls and gives it to the Santa in the North Pole, That he is his helper” We were pretty sure he bought it ’cause he said “oh I see”. We get a few steps closer and he still insists I am the only one siting on Santa’s lap. I asked he to please just stand by him so we could get a picture but he still refused. We his current weakness happens to be Poke’man Cards. So I pulled the bribe…..I offered to buy him Poke’man cards if he would please take a picture with Santa. He bit!! So I think we are in the clear now up for his chance to see Santa and the lady comes up and asks the question they usually ask so they can clue Santa in “What is the name?? ” With that lil’ man speaks up and says “Shoppy, she’s sitting on his lap first!” I looked at him and just laughed… So like a good Aunt I sat on Santa chair and told him what was going on…..He winked.

Then it was the big moment came Would he or Wouldnt he see Santa???

HE DID!!!!……

and the minute he hopped off his lap he said “Shoppy we’re going to get my Poke’man cards now right??”

I just laughed again and said “Yes we’re going to get your cards now…..

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!

We had such a blast today with our nephew, Joshua.  We went to see “Surfs Up” which was ‘totally awsome dude!’….He laughed the entire movie!!

Then we went out to eat and got the Fantastic 4 toys he wanted……and Mom-Mom also got him Poke’man cards and a Ratatouille Game…..

We went back to the house and Mom-Mom, Uncle Aaron, Joshua & Shoppy (me) played for hours….That game is soooo much FUN!!!  I would reccomend it for anyone who has a child 5 yrs old and over, it is definately a game the WHOLE family can enjoy!!

Then we went to Kaitlin’s Graduation party (she is my step-nephews step-daughter), she graduated from 8th grade.  There was lots of great food, dancing and the kids had a Blast!!

Back to the house for more Ratatouille and finally convinced Joshua we were tired enough to clean up for Night Nights…..He is hesitatant ’cause we had so much fun today but I am certain once the head hits the pillow he will be out…..

Just wanted to share our Family moments with everyone….

GoodNight!!

a loving memory down home

Monday, April 17th, 2006

It was three years ago today my GrandFather was carrying a bail of hay by himself over his head walking up a hill to feed the family horses when he collapsed and died. He died doing what he loved… and I loved him so… he won best farmer in Ohio and all knew him as the father figure of the county…

I always will remember sitting in his lap on the tractor as he drove us back from the end of our fields back to the house harvesting corn all the way in straight rows… Man I can sometimes taste the salty savory sweat off my brow from those times of hard labor… you tend to almost crave the taste I think after a while… His laugh was better and deeper than even Santa Claus’ truly he was the Holly King! I got my love of cigars from him too; and will always choose only his brand. I love John Deer for no reason whatsoever other than thats what my GrandPa Sam always had on and drove …

I miss him alot thinking he is just up the road outside of “downtown” still on the farm and I can go see him anytime I want…

I found a hidden egg

Sunday, April 16th, 2006

Today I found a hidden egg full of color and magic for much to come…

thank you easter bunny for the great time of peace and escape I was able to experience today… I know it reached many I touched and especially to Charles I’m glad he was blessed today - that made my weekend…

I hope this weekend was a time (if only for a moment) of healing and thankfulness…

Purple Heart forever…

Sunday, March 26th, 2006

I awoke in horror dreaming … Paranoid and posessed I cannot get any sleep, so I thought perhaps writing out my emotions here would help… so here i go…

Currently we are following the Iraqi insurgence car bombing reported explosion that Heather’s Couzin - Charles “Chuckie” Ford - was involved in Thursday. we dont know much yet - I guess its because we are in the 72 hour rule still… I remember about this myself from ROTC me and boozer read it together I remember it like yesterday - wow… anyways, all we know for now is that he was seriously/deathly hurt and is trying to return from Iraq to Walter Read Medical Center in Washington D.C., His father is traveling to meet him there now. Please pray for our Family, we have had enough emotional hardship and loss as of late already and this simply further bruised an open wound still bleeding…

Our family was notified by Army Intelligence Friday…

In peacetime, only the ‘’primary'’ next of kin designated by a servicemember get notified of a death or perilous injury. Usually, that is the spouse or parents. In war, the Defense Department expands notification to a ‘’secondary'’ list that may include grandparents, siblings, aunts and uncles — even friends or lawyers. ‘’There may be up to eight or nine people,'’ Army spokeswoman Elaine Kanellis says.

God bless all our service men and women…
thank you all for protecting our homes so we can sleep tonight…

I only can listen to Toby Keith’s “American Soldier” for solice…
sweet dreamz…. A M E R I C A…
