Phillies vs Braves Game Last Night!!

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

Aaron and I went to the Phillies Game last night and had a blast!!

We feasted on our Cheesesteaks and rooted for the Fightin Phils with our Terrible Towels

The terrible towels were a fan hand out last night and it looked so cool thru out the stadium when everyone was thrashing them around!!

The only unfortunate thing is the other people we normally see at every game were not in attendance but we still had just as much fun!

Phillies creamed the Braves 6 - 2  !!

The Best part of the whole night was that the METS lost so the Phils pull past them toward the finals…….

Keep Extended Family in the know

Friday, September 19th, 2008

Aaron and I are always trying to keep our extended Family close to us as much as possible.  It is very difficult because of course everyone has their own lives, live in different states and some how these days people find it hard to on top of their ‘very busy’ lives pick up a phone, send an ‘actual’ email or mail a card….

We are not those people we try to always recognize Birthdays, Holidays, Births etc……We always try to make phone calls once a month or to stay in touch to see how people are doing and update people on our status of things as well.
Unfortunately, no one else in our huge extended Family really does this. We normally find things out when we make our phone call to a family member who is in the know or from reading other family members blogs.

Anyway, a week or so ago we found out from Aaron’s Grandmother that his cousin & wife are expecting their first child in March 2009.  We were so excited for them that Aaron immediately picked up the phone and called them with congratulations. Since we are the type of people who like to validate peoples life events we also decided to send them an early Baby Gift.

We sent them a package courtesy of RalphLauren.com , we recieved notification that the package was delivered on 9/13 via Fedex but left at the front door. On Tuesday we were talking and found it odd that we hadnt received a call of thanks and I said to Aaron maybe we had better call since it was left at the front door and they live in an apartment complex, let’s make sure they actually got the package.

Aaron calls his cousin to find out that they indeed did not receive a package.  Aaron kept explaining to his cousin that it was confirmed for delivery on Saturday that it was left at the front door of the apartment.  With that his cousin tells him they don’t live in the apartment anymore that they moved awhile ago…..

UGH!!!  If only some one had updated us this nice gesture would not have turned into such a nightmare because as of today 9/19 they still have yet to retrieve the gift from their old address.  I put a call in to RalphLauren.com last evening (thank god customer service is open until 11pm) and they are putting a FedEx recall on the item but the problem is they will only reconfirm that it was delivered to the address they were provided they cannot reroute the package so the problem remains with Aaron’s Cousin still having to go to their old apartment everyday to try and retrieve the gift from the current tenants.
- Unless of course the current tenants just saw a package from Ralph Lauren and thought hmmmm no body here by that name must be mine now…….

I wouldnt be so upset if it were just a card or something small but for 1st Babies we like to go over the top and we all know RalphLauren.com is a bit over the top….

MORAL of the Story: Check to be sure you have updated Family info!

If you have a major life event like:

- MOVING or CHANGE OF ADDRESS
- CHANGE OF PHONE NUMBER
- Birth of or expecting a child
- Death of a Loved one

(included: such as if something were to happen to my brother in-laws mother, father, siblings etc)
- Graduation
- Life altering medical illness etc……

PLEASE SEND A NOTE TO YOUR EXTENDED FAMILY
-or-
DEVELOP a CALL CHAIN where people call one another throughout the Family to update those who may not live close by or be ‘in the know’

Its soooo sad to me that the FAMILY UNIT no longer exists anymore….

Its a shame the elders of the Families are just left to flounder while the 20’s -50’s are ‘busy’ with their things and the children of the 20’s-50’s dont know who their extended Family members even are, some barely even know who their own grandparents are on one side of the Family or the other and that’s Just WRONG!!

Phillies vs Brewers Game last night

Friday, September 12th, 2008

Aaron and I went to the Phillies game last evening.  Our family has season tickets and from time to time we are offered to go. (Thank you Dave!!)

This was Aaron’s 3rd game ( he took his friend Ken to 2 games) of the season and my 1st!!

They had a very emotional tribute to the 9/11 tragedy with an enormous flag held by Marines from across the country.  It took up almost the entire field at Citizens Bank Park.

After the tribute We had ourselves some Tony Luke’s cheese steaks for dinner, which were so Yummy!!

It was such a beautiful night.  We got our nephew an autographed baseball from the entire team which was cool!!  And Aaron loves the fact that almost always with season tickets you have the same people sitting by you at every game.  Fortunately the people around our seats are really cool and he likes seeing them every time he goes…….

I forgot to grab the Canon Rebel EOS camera when I left the house so we took pics on Aarons new cell phone.  As soon as we figure out how to download the pics off of it I will add the pics we took to this post…..

Phills WON 6-3 over the Brewers and I safely dodged all fly balls…LOL

The coolest experience today!

Wednesday, September 10th, 2008

It was such a nice day today!!  I love 70-75 degree weather, I had all the windows and doors open in the house it was just so beautiful.

I called my mom around 1030am to see if she wanted to go to the Grand Opening of the New Sam’s Club in Deptford today after my dad went to dialysis. She called me back around 12:15pm after the nurse left and said she’d love to go & would pick me up around 2pm…

Well, after I was showered and ready to go shopping I decided to sit out in my garden and wait for my mom to pick me up.  I was sitting there on my new bench we bought watching all the butterflies going in and out of the flowers I planted this year, and there is a lot!!  I planted these special flowers that are meant to attract butterflies and hummingbirds.

I was thinking of how nice it was to see all these butterflies when I heard a noise which sounded much like a bee in my ear.  I turned my head to the left which is where the largest flower bed is and I saw the most beautiful hummingbird!!  He was green and purple and only 2-3 feet away from me….

He was amazing!!  I was smiling for the rest of the day because I was blessed to see such a beautiful creature of nature up close….

I think I might spend some more time out their the next couple days since it is suppose to be nice to see if I can get a glimpse of him again!!

Ps………
I spent WAAAY too much money today at Sam’s Club but we had fun!
Plus I got to run in to an old friend today which was also a great blessing!!

Provide Fresh Vegetables to People in Need

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008

The only thing better for your heart than a diet rich in vegetables,

is Giving to Others!!

V8juice.com recognizes that for too many Americans, the possibility of a day without food is a constant reality!

35 MILLION people NATIONWIDE (yes here in America!) face the everyday challenge of wondering where their next meal is coming from.

V8 has teamed up with Feeding America to donate more than 30 million servings of Fresh Vegetables to local food banks throughout the country.  Many people may not realize that food banks mostly have only non-perishable foods therefore the poor are not getting the essential vitamins and minerals they need that only fresh vegetables can give!
This program will run for the next 6 months…..
How you can Help:

1)  Purchase V8 Juices and soups to show your support
By making V8 part of your daily routine you get more vegetables servings and help give more vegetable servings to those who need them most!!

2) Make a Donation
A $25.00 donation means 850 servings of vegetables,98 meals for a family of four,   19   weeks worth of food Per Person

3) Find A Food Bank in your area  & Volunteer or Drop off Food

4) Spread the word
Tag a Bag in your support and email your family and friends, get your church or community organization to pull together & donate to the local food bank or to Feeding America

I am not a fan of the Traditional V8 but I do love the V8 V-Fusion juices, they taste just like fruit juice but you get the added benefit of getting a serving of vegetables too in every serving!!  Aaron and my mom LOVE the traditional V8 so I am sure we will be stocking up on these products to show our support over the next 6 months.

Just another way you can use your Shopping Cart to make a difference in the lives of others and Pay it Forward!!
