Say NO to Puppy Mills

Wednesday, February 25th, 2009

Aaron and I have obtained a client, CanineJusticeNetwork.com, a few months back that has really opened our eyes to the inhumane way dogs (& cats) are treated by humans and how many are cats & dogs are KILLED EVERY MONTH in shelters.

All across the States cats and dogs from newborns to the elderly are being put to ’sleep’. The animals did not choose to be born nor abandoned. Purebreds are not exempt from being slaughtered either. Last week there were at least 4 German Shepherds ( two of them 4 month old puppies ) a Rottie, 4 - 5 chihuahuas, a Siberian Husky… and that’s only the glimpse I had.

* 5 million dogs and cats are killed yearly in U.S. shelters. That is 13,800 every day or 575 dogs and cats killed every hour, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
* In six years, one female dog and her off spring can theoretically be the source of 67,000 dogs.
* In seven years, one female cat and her off spring can theoretically be the source of 420,000 cats.

Who is responsible for this outrageous , irresponsible action? You are. I am. Anybody who does not speak up, shout out !!! You are responsible if you thought it was a good idea if Muffy had at least one litter before you had her spayed. You are responsible if you decided not to get your “boy” fixed because he couldn’t have puppies or because you think it would make your dog less “macho”. It is your responsibility if you bring home an animal that you cannot afford.

Everyone loves puppies or kittens. However, animals outgrow their baby cuteness within a few months. Animals do not train themselves, feed themselves. As an owner you are the Caretaker 24/7 ! Animals are a responsibility. Your responsibility as well as mine. Speak up if you see an animal being abused! Abuse is not only physical as in being kicked, beaten, hit. Abuse is a lack of shelter, lack of food, lack of medical and in my eyes; lack of companionship.

With that said I dont understand why People all want a loving little puppy go to a pet store and pick one out then a few months or maybe even a few years later they throw them away, abandon them or abuse them. I dont deny that in the past some of our animals were purchased but we made them lifelong partners and the ones my Family has currently were all rescue animals except for one.

Abuse of an animal is something so incomprehensible to me.  My whole life we have always cherished our animals as if they were a related part of our family and we have mourned the loss of each one as they have passed on naturally.

Last week when I got home from being in the hospital a Puppy Mill rescue by the Humane Society of Missouri came to my attention.

There were 90 Yorkshire terriers (Click here for video) rescued from implurable conditions of someone who had them caged their whole lives to produce puppies for YOU to buy at the pet store!  They thought so little of these dogs that they never had medical treatments, grooming, clean water and never touched the earth with their paws.  Some of these pups were so matted it affected their limbs to where the bone died and they were unable to use their legs. But yet all you see is the cute little puppy in the pet store !

This is my plea for the Public to take a stand against Puppy Mills and Catteries.

Provide Fresh Vegetables to People in Need

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008

The only thing better for your heart than a diet rich in vegetables,

is Giving to Others!!

V8juice.com recognizes that for too many Americans, the possibility of a day without food is a constant reality!

35 MILLION people NATIONWIDE (yes here in America!) face the everyday challenge of wondering where their next meal is coming from.

V8 has teamed up with Feeding America to donate more than 30 million servings of Fresh Vegetables to local food banks throughout the country.  Many people may not realize that food banks mostly have only non-perishable foods therefore the poor are not getting the essential vitamins and minerals they need that only fresh vegetables can give!
This program will run for the next 6 months…..
How you can Help:

1)  Purchase V8 Juices and soups to show your support
By making V8 part of your daily routine you get more vegetables servings and help give more vegetable servings to those who need them most!!

2) Make a Donation
A $25.00 donation means 850 servings of vegetables,98 meals for a family of four,   19   weeks worth of food Per Person

3) Find A Food Bank in your area  & Volunteer or Drop off Food

4) Spread the word
Tag a Bag in your support and email your family and friends, get your church or community organization to pull together & donate to the local food bank or to Feeding America

I am not a fan of the Traditional V8 but I do love the V8 V-Fusion juices, they taste just like fruit juice but you get the added benefit of getting a serving of vegetables too in every serving!!  Aaron and my mom LOVE the traditional V8 so I am sure we will be stocking up on these products to show our support over the next 6 months.

Just another way you can use your Shopping Cart to make a difference in the lives of others and Pay it Forward!!

Make a Recycling Stand in your TOWN/CITY & YOU MAKE MONEY DOING IT!!!
RECYCLE BANK Rewards you for Recycling!! Get this you can email them and request service. Our Town started this about 2 years ago….

“Our recycling rate has increased by more than 50% and we’ve saved over $11,000 dollars in tipping fees,” adds Clayton Mayor Patricia Gannon. Everyone can cash in, but no one has to separate paper from plastic, from glass. All of that goes into one container in what’s known as single stream recycling.

Clayton, New Jersey pays Recyclebank per household. Recyclebank pays participants up to $35 dollars a month in Recyclebank credits, redeemable at both local businesses such as Barbara Ann’s Downtown Cafe and national chains, such as Starbucks and Rite Aid. Also get a bonus to go to the movies, to the mall, and more just from recycling your trash!

The company provides recycling containers, encrypted with a bar code. The recycling truck reads the code and weighs the container. The information goes into the participant’s account, accessible online for reward coupons.

“In the first 9 months we’ve had Recyclebank, we’ve collected over $400,000 in coupons that the people of our town have cashed in and this is a definite economic impact,” says Clayton Environmental Officer Joe Abate.

The sign on the recycling truck says “Oink if you love recycling.” And it appears that the townsfolk of Clayton, New Jersey, population 7,100, are Oinking all the way the the Bank!!

Caveate Emptor

Latin for “Let the buyer beware.” The idea that buyers take responsibility for the condition of the items they purchase and should examine them before purchase. This is especially true for items that are not covered under a strict warranty.

When it comes to cyberspace and ecommerce, there is no one true complete perfect system, however many companies have developed great affiliations with several select ( and highly reknown) ecommerce partners to offer you the best in a turn-key system. I recommend for you to be knowledgable of all customer experiences from all sides when evaluating a bank and payment processing system for online and offline transactions.
