do while failure ne success

Saturday, September 27th, 2008

The success or failure of any controlled innovative method toiled on for any programmer is not dependent on the “success” or “failure” of any given experiment conducted any more than that of any other programmer thanks to the collective mindshare readily available on the internet. The vast majority of my experiments done in my “ITlab” probably “fail” by one definition of that term or another. But even if I end up at the end of a day disproving a hypothesis upon which something I thought of driving into work that day was based, it at least in some minimal way has contributed to my overall “scientific knowledge” by helping narrow my focus for subsequent research. Though confided in it’s complexity here this is the secret of my applied approach to rapid self discovery is realized in simple principles.

I admit I am the worst at getting down on myself for trying so hard at a failing at a niche function or array to where it makes me mad at myself! I am glad I can go and work it out in the gym ! Although it may seem unproductive, when I go to sleep at night, I remember it is hard to find anyone as innovative and aggressive as I.

Dark Matter

Monday, September 22nd, 2008

Harnessing dark matter has become aggressively researched as a means for alternative energy.
Alternative Energy strategists could consider dark energy that is in the universe, the energy that scientists believe is propelling the galaxies and the expanding universe could be researched how to be harnessed for production.

if we could improve the understanding of that dark energy, that matter, that that would help us find a new source of power, perhaps, if we could harness that energy, maybe a new source of energy that we could use on Earth.

It’s not entirely unreasonable to hope that dark matter or dark energy could be harnessed for practical application in the future (for example, discovery of massive stable negatively charged particles could lead to catalytic nuclear fusion, although the bounds on existence of such particles from previous searches are severe), but it should be viewed as one of those vague, unquantifiable things that motivates pure research.

there is some debate about dark energy being different then dark matter.

Cellular memory is the hypothesis that such things as memories, habits, interests, and tastes may somehow be stored in all the cells of human bodies, not only in the brain.

Phosphenes

Monday, October 15th, 2007

The artist Aaron Ross has a great definition of phosphenes: “phantom images seen only in the mind’s eye.”

Phosphenes (literally “light that shines forth”) are luminous, ephemeral signposts marking the landscape of inner space. Several scientists have found that phosphenes have common features across cultural boundaries. Such findings point to a universal library of symbols.

A phosphene is a multicolored shape or pattern seen in the darkness, without external visual stimulation. Phosphenes can be seen with closed eyes or in a completely dark room with open eyes. Phosphenes may appear as:

  • spirals
  • exploding stars
  • wispy clouds
  • wheels
  • tunnels
  • parallel lines
  • wavy lines
  • dotted lines
  • zigzags
  • checkerboards
  • honeycombs
  • spider webs
  • dot patterns
  • circles within circles
  • crosses
  • thin meandering lines, like lightning
  • geometric shapes, like triangles, squares, pentagons
  • and so on.

They may swirl, pulse, superimpose, fragment, or morph into other images.

If you have ever bumped your head and seen stars, those were phosphenes. You can, however, stimulate the appearance of phosphenes without hurting your head in the process. Hold your fingers over your closed eyelids and make very slow and gentle circular motions or apply very gentle pressure. When images begin appearing, remove your fingers, keep your eyes closed, and watch the visions. Having a tape recorder handy will allow you to describe out loud the colors, shapes, and other phenomena you witness. This information will be helpful later as you study the symbolic meaning of your visions.

Why does pressure on the eyeballs create phosphenes? Mathematician G. Bard Ermentrout explains that the pressure inhibits signals from the retina, thereby encouraging the brain’s cortex to fill the void. The brain begins firing spontaneously and creates hallucinatory patterns.

Phosphenes can also be seen under such conditions as:

  • hypnosis
  • reverie
  • fever delirium
  • fatigue
  • sensory deprivation
  • sweat lodges
  • profound concentration
  • hyperventilation
  • medicinal herbs
  • psychoactive drugs (such as LSD)
  • food and water deprivation
  • electrical and magnetic stimulation of the visual cortex
  • strobe lights
  • rhythmic movement
  • migraine headaches
  • meditation
  • trance states
  • intense emotion
  • stress
  • crystal gazing

The behaviour of phosphenes seems to be uncontrollable by scientists. In 1994, vision researcher William H. Dobelle discovered that the phosphene lights flicker at a rate which seems unrelated to the cardiac pulse, breathing rate, or other physiologic functions.

Phosphene researcher and artist Lorena Babcock Moore says that under the influence of drugs and other intense forms of stimulation, phosphenes become “more pronounced and the patterns (called entoptics) increase in complexity and may include flashes, spirals, circles, or zigzags that move in concentric circling, horizontal streaking, vertical falling, or scattering fragments. Motifs may overlap and transform into one another.” However, Moore does not use intense methods for her own phosphene work. She prefers outdoor solitary drumming.

Distinct shapes are commonly seen in phosphenes. Phosphenes are said to be generated by the nervous system’s intrinsic geometry.

Vivid, morphing colors are typical. Phosphenes typically change color in phases:

1. Yellow
2. Bright green with a red halo expanding toward the center
3. Red with a blue halo expanding toward the center
4. Blue
5. Grey, faint afterimage

These inner visions have inspired artistic works throughout human history. In 1989, researcher Richard Bradley applied the concept of phosphenes to European megalithic art. He attributed many mysterious cave drawings with the phosphene visions of the ancient artists. Art historian A. E. Iribas has traced the influence of phosphenes on such art as:

  • the “childlike” art of Miro
  • the psychedelic art of Michaux
  • the surrealist art of Dali
  • the mandalas of Tibetan Buddhism
  • the architecture of temples
  • alchemical imagery
  • Hildegard von Bingen’s illuminations
  • the work of contemporary painters such as Onslow-Ford, Kupka, Kandinsky, av Klint, and others

In 1983, Qabala expert Philo Stone suggested that phosphenes are actually “sparks of pure energy, light perceived at the moment of its conversion into nervous-system information between the cornea and the brain. Thus, phosphenes may be the behavior of atomic particles as observed by the naked eye: the interface of two worlds, the normal and the nuclear

— the fourth dimension.”The French physician Francis Lefebure (1916-1988) experimented with a technique of combining a thought with a phosphene in order to transform the energy of light into mental energy. He believed that conscious phosphene work would stimulate memory, attention, intelligence, imagination, intuition, creativity, decision making, patience, perseverance, self confidence, dreaming, and the discovery of new dimensions. His technique involved stimulating phosphenes with a light source:

1. Sit in a darkened room.
2. Look at the bulb of a small pocket flashlight (non-halogen) for thirty seconds.
3. Turn off the light and, with open eyes, see the phosphene.
4. Place a thought inside the phosphene: “A thought of love, goodness, peace, wisdom, a thought dedicated to unhappy and unlucky people of the planet.”
5. Keep both the phosphene and the thought for at least one minute, smiling throughout.

Electric Thoughts

Friday, August 24th, 2007

The rate at which solar energy ( solar radiant power or luminosity ) reaches the Earth is about one kilowatt on each square meter. This is very useful and useable power indeed, and also goes to show the very poor efficiency of present day solar panels. We must identify and SHARE information how to make our home a better place or we’ll experience M. Night’s The Happening for real !

* Please remember that our teacher is Nature. Nature does her tricks with simple elegance and thus is using the proper energy efficient tools. My humble attempt at trying to identify the alternative renewable energy source identified by a combination or realizatoins of Telsa, Russell, Johm Bedini, John Searl, Floyd Sweet, Robert Adams and Edwin Gray as representative examples of the inventors that I am talking about — we only have to upset the electro-magnetic balance and enormous power is at our disposal.

Remember my theory ( like hundreds of others ) is an unproven fact, and you are more than welcome to modify and improve on my humble contribution. That is called science.

In all cases, the energy ‘ appeared ’ due to a manipulation of electricity and magnetism.

I also believe that the source of a mysterious energy that is created in experiment findings when creating a ‘Joe Cell’ is present everywhere in abundance, and is the only energy that we should be using, and is our only hope in saving mankind and Mother Earth.

Since gravity is not usually considered an energy form, using gravity to create energy is usually discarded as nonsense. But it is not. Remember it has been proven that gravity is a FLOW an NOT a FORCE…

I hope that Orbo will soon change the world.

Mad Cow Breakthrough his week  ::. this link

My wife and I were discussing cloning the other night because of the cloning scandal to have cloned hamburgers… .:: here ::.

I must say that this is too much… for as progressive that I am on my stance when it comes to many things pioneering, I am most certainly conservative on this…

I mean I am FOR stem cell research but I am not for this… All ready my nutritionalist Dr.Light  ( hi doc ;) ) has turned me on to many facts of how because of hormones and preservatives in our food we have affected the human creature… (Ill leave it at that)

If we were meant to eat cloned meat then nature would had provided it…

When it comes to eating … we must remember 1st and foremost - that we are animals.

Our pre-historic past has encoded the ability to have the capacity to explore science but when it comes to eating, I feel we should really have a hard look at what we are loosing or de-evolving ourselves by ingesting such a concept rather than being like a grizzley bear and sticking to our raw roots…

In my extreme limited time investigating the subject I know you loose about 15% of every dna strand that is cloned every generation…

Many I feel think of this portion of the DNA tail like an appendix - you dont need it so you can truncate it… - remove it out of the equation… im afraid then I can’t call it a hamburger… It is a hamburge’

help me in banning cloning strands of this sort…

Holy Glow BioGenetics Batman!

Friday, April 14th, 2006

Green Fluorescent Protein (GFP) has existed for more than one hundred and sixty million years in one species of jellyfish. In 1994 it was cloned. Now GFP is found in laboratories all over the world where it is used in every conceivable plant and animal. Flatworms, algae, E. coli and pigs have all been made to fluoresce with GFP. Holy Green eggs and HAM !

Why is it so popular? Well I like to think of GFP as the microscope of the twenty-first century. Using GFP we can see when proteins are made and where they can go. This is done by joining the GFP gene to the gene of the protein of interest so that when the protein is made it will have GFP hanging off it (see Figure below). Since GFP fluoresces one can shine light at the cell and wait for the distinctive green fluorescence associated with GFP to appear.
I know many have heard how we mapped the genome, but what will be more impressive is once we map the proteome…

The Green Fluorescent Protein Structure has always facinated me. I’ve loved everything that glows in the dark. If and when I can I try to almost think of everything what if it glowed lol… (shows how geeky I think huh) but anyhow I am enamored with the concept.

The crystal structure of GFP was solved in 1996. It has a unique soda can shape. Eleven beta-strands make up the beta-barrel and an alpha-helix runs through the center. The chromophore is located in the middle of the beta-barrel, it is occasionally referred to as the ?light in the can?.

GFP- beta barrel with chromophore shown in green
so how does nature make flesh glow: heres is the answer all our childhood imaginations have wished for…

Id like to take this idea and see if theres a way to breed the phosphorous luminance into an ink whick can be planted within the skin… hence my glow-n-the-dark full body tribal tattoo Ive always wanted… !

Another representation of the GFP beta-barrel. Beta sheets are green, helices red and connecting loops black.

In June 2003 GFP was the protein databank’s (pdb) molecule of the month .

The chromophore of GFP is responsible for its fluorescence. It has the following structure

where the R groups are the first 64 and last 170 residues of GFP. GFP catalyzes the formation of its own chromophore. It is proposed that Arg96 plays a crucial role in this catalysis. Two different mechanisms have been proposed for its action, see below.

The biggest difference between green fluorescent protein and it’s red analog, DsRed, is that the chromophore of DsRed has an extra double bond (drawn in yellow) which extends the chromophores conjugation and causes the red-shift.

Cloned Pigs
Randy Prather, a professor of reproductive biotechnology at the University of Missouri, Columbia, is one of the researchers in the forefront of the creation of transgenic swine for medicine. He often uses GFP and its yellow mutant YFP as a marker to show that foreign genes can be expressed in transgenic swine. The photo below shows two pigs, the one on the right is a regular piglet, a little cleaner than your typical piglet, but no different from the piglets you find on a hog farm. The one on the left is clearly very different to any pig we have ever seen before. It is a transgenic YFP cloned pig created by Professor Prather. It was formed to show that it is possible to produce a transgenic clone. In the words of Prather: ? These animals prove that we can make genetic modifications to express desired traits. For xenotransplantation, this is a large step because it means it’s possible to change the genetic makeup of the cells to prevent the body’s rejection of transplanted organs.? Sky News summed up the research in the following way: ? ?Scientists have developed the first pig with a fluorescent yellow snout and trotters using jellyfish DNA. Researchers in the US say the work is a step towards growing animal organs for transplants - which could save thousands of human lives. But opponents have said the work is a freak show and a perversion of science.?
I love the buggers ! I admit if I could Id have one as a pet…
