It De-PEN-ds
Thursday, December 6th, 2007Here’s a glimpse of hope during the WGAw screenplay writer’s (I preferably like to be called a filmmaker) strike… The summer blockbuster Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End was released on DVD yesterday. Long-time Pirates scribes Ted Elliot and Terry Rossio can expect a little less than $6,700 in writing residuals under the current system depending on if it performs as well as Dead Man’s Chest (which had almost $5 million in sales its first day on the shelves)…
It would be almost double if not triple that ‘booty’ if the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) would had agreed to original proposals… They are the REAL pirates !
