Shipping Master Plan
Since 2004 FedEx regularly announces an increase an average of 2.9 percent for shipping. for nationwide residential and commercial locations with a peak of 3.5% in 2007 and 4.9 in 2008 ! Fuel surcharges I understand have been a HUGE factor in this explosion in surging prices…
50 cents on the typical under-$10 fee for ground-shipping a small package [ see FedEx rates ]
This will certainly impact the merchants concentrating on low-margin propositions…
UPS international shipments is looking at a 6.9% increase in their base rates
FedEx Shipping example:
From Manhattan to Beverly Hills to ship a purse 4 business days
24in long by 8in wide by 6in tall in custom packaging for residential delivery
would be $11.63 X .15% merchant handling fee $1.80 = $15 ceiling to ship.
